INSTRUCTION ON PROFILEBUILDER UTILITY

ProfileBuilder enables importing data from PAD files, but at the same time has a bigger number of fields than an ordinary PAD file, which enables taking into consideration all the particulars of submitting information on the program to various software catalogues. That’s why we recommend that on importing data from PAD file into the ProfileBuilder the program description profile should be edited manually by completing it with all the lacking information. If by editing the profile you change the information in some fields, the names of which are marked in bold, then on completing editing them a reverse operation should be don – export of information from the profile into PAD file.

The main ProfileBuilder window looks the following way:

Each tab contains a certain number of fields. At the General field tab enter into the corresponding fields those Login and Password, which were used by previous program submissions to the software catalogues. If you submission a program for the first time, note that Name (Login) and Password should contain minimum 6 symbols.

If you have a ready PAD file, it will suffice to simply import the information from this file into the ProfileBuilder. For import use the Import from PAD function and specify the .xml file location on your computer. All the information from PAD file will be distributed in the corresponding profile fields and it will be possible to edit it if necessary, by switching from one tab to the other. After editing the profile a reverse operation of creating .xml file by utilizing the Export to PAD function can be done. The edited PAD file should be uploaded to the server at the address, which you specified in the PAD url (US) field – URLs tab:

All the fields, the names of which are marked in bold in the ProfileBuilder, are mandatory. Other fields are desirable, as they enable to display fuller information on the program and the company. At the same time, absence of information in the fields not marked in bold, doesn’t prevent program submission in the software catalogues.

In case you try to save the profile without filling at least one of the fields marked in bold (Save profile and Save profile as function), the program will display a message requiring to fill in this field.

The saved profile (program description file with .prb extension) should be uploaded from the ProfileBuilder onto our server. The file is uploaded while working with your account management panel – at the moment of adding information on the program for completing the submission order. The process of entering information into the profile is pretty simple, but some particulars should be taken into consideration.

First, the address site, specified in the Company site field Company Info tab should not contain the domain name symbols:

Second, the download file specified in the Download url (US) field in the URLs tab should be .exe or .zip extension:

Third, when filling the Program Categories field at the Program info tab the rules of compiling the list of categories for your program should be accounted for. The rules are as follows:

- The categories should be placed with proper consideration for the hierarchy, i.e. top position should be occupied by the category which to your mind best fits your program. Next you decide on the priorities number 2, 3 and so on. In the end of the list those categories are put, in which the program can be listed in case of absence of more suitable categories. The list of categories is accessed by pressing the Values button, located to the left of Program Categories field.

Such an approach to compiling the list stems from the fact that different software catalogues offer different categories sets. If you encounter difficulties by compiling the list or make it incomplete, we will broaden it by submission and will submit the program to the resources where it belongs according to the program description and the categories specified by you. But at the same time we recommend that you compile the list yourself while only the developer himself is fully aware of all the particulars of his program and therefore is able to compile the most accurate list of categories.

- By compiling the categories list all the national particulars of the categories names should be taken into account, i.e. if possible the list should contain the names of categories not only in English, but also in German, Russian etc. List of national categories is accessed in the drop-down menu Values list.
